Standard Air Conditioning Co. is seeking a skilled full-time Gas Pipe Tech to join our HVAC team in Knoxville, TN. This full-time opportunity offers a competitive hourly wage of $24 – $30
!
The Gas Pipe Tech position follows a consistent on-site schedule from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
. Employees report to a central location each morning before traveling to job sites or service areas.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:As a Gas Pipe Tech, you will install, modify, and test natural gas and propane piping systems using black iron, CSST, and copper where permitted. You will plan piping routes, connect appliances such as furnaces, boilers, and water heaters, and perform pressure testing and leak detection. You will ensure all work complies with federal, state, and local codes, and maintain a safe jobsite at all times.
Accurate documentation, including job notes, photos, pressure test logs, and material tracking, will be part of your daily responsibilities. You will communicate with homeowners about project scope and safety, coordinate with team members, manage inventory, and participate in ongoing training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of residential gas piping or HVAC installation experience
- Strong knowledge of international and local fuel gas codes
- Skilled with threading machines, pressure testing equipment, and CSST installation
- Ability to read construction plans, blueprints, and mechanical drawings
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, basements, and rooftops
- State gas fitter license
- CSST certification (Trac Pipe, Flash Shield, Omega Flex, etc.)
- Experience with hydronic equipment and commercial gas systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
