ResponsibilitiesPosition: Parking Cashier
Location: UT Medical Center
Shift: Full‑time, Monday–Friday (12:30 pm–8 pm)
Pay: $13 /hr
An SP+ Cashier creates an efficient, stress‑free, and enjoyable experience for each customer. Responsibilities include receiving payment for parking services, facilitating the flow of traffic through the facility, and performing a variety of cashier duties.
- Treat each customer with respect and kindness, ensuring each interaction delivers on the SP+ Promise.
- Be at work every scheduled day, on time, in uniform, and ready to assist customers.
- Count the “bank” of revenue at the beginning of shift to ensure the starting total is correct.
- Collect cash and/or validations and maintain security of cash.
- Makes change and issues receipts or tickets for each transaction.
- Compute or re‑compute the bill from the ticket showing the amount due per customer.
- Operate cash register after time calculation, calculate cost of transaction and display it on the cash register.
- Quote prices for parking services for which money is received upright on customer receipt.
- Give directions to city locations and assist customers, ensuring they get where they are going easily and efficiently.
- Complete lost ticket forms when original tickets cannot be located.
- Resolve customer complaints quickly and efficiently, asking a supervisor for assistance when needed.
- Answer telephone promptly and courteously.
- Maintain cleanliness of booth and pick up trash in surrounding area.
- Conduct timely checks to verify inventory of necessary work aids and supplies are located in booth.
- Verify log of shift transactions against bank of “revenue” on hand.
- Compile “bank” of collected revenue during the day once a predetermined amount of money has been collected.
- Record amounts received, cars in/out of facility, cars left in a facility (if applicable) while preparing shift report of transactions.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.
Education and/or
Experience:
Less than high school education or up to one month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Availability to Work: Availability to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and/or weekends may be required based on location hiring needs.
License Requirement: Must maintain a valid state‑issued driver’s license, with a current address and acceptable driving record, if expected to drive a company vehicle or drive on company business.
Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to make change.
Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; write simple correspondence; present information in one‑on‑one or small group situations.
Reasoning ability: Apply common sense to carry out detailed but standard written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
Other skills and abilities: Use a clock (standard/military time) and calculator or credit card machine to handle transactions; maintain pleasant demeanor on telephone and with public; respond effectively to customer problems or complaints.
