We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join a local fabrication facility. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machining equipment to produce precision metal components according to specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience working in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Set up, operate, and adjust machining equipment such as CNC machines, manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and work orders.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines and tooling.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain tolerances and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to improve processes and resolve production issues.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school or machining certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a machinist in a fabrication or manufacturing environment (CNC and/or manual machining).
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is preferred.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills for machine interfaces and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal shavings, and machinery.
- Fabrication/manufacturing facility.
- May involve working with heavy machinery, sharp tools, and raw materials.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
