Overview
Hybrid – Two Field Operating Companies. The Payroll Manager will be on‑site one day per week at Knoxville and Johnson City Locations; remaining schedule may be remote.
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager / Field Payroll Analyst to oversee payroll operations for two Field Operating Companies. This hybrid role requires on‑site presence one (1) day per week at each assigned location, with remaining days worked remotely. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in payroll processing, compensation administration, systems management, and cross‑functional collaboration. In this role, you will manage end‑to‑end payroll operations, administer complex incentive programs, ensure compliance across all payroll activities, supervise payroll staff, and leverage analytical tools to support business decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities- Payroll Operations
- Manage and supervise all payroll preparation and distribution activities for two OpCos, ensuring accuracy and on‑time processing.
- Conduct daily review of payroll data for each location.
- Maintain and manage the payroll system database, ensuring tax bodies and configurations are accurate and balanced.
- Approve wage attachments and verify accuracy of all deductions.
- Direct the preparation of manual checks and ensure full compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Complete payroll‑related inter‑company charges as required.
- Analyze and reconcile payroll‑related general ledger accounts.
- Incentive & Component Pay Administration
- Administer and validate complex sales incentive programs, including multi‑tiered commissions, quota‑based earnings, variable bonus structures, SPIFFs, draws, performance multipliers, and location‑specific incentive rules.
- Ensure accurate payout calculations through auditing, data reconciliation, and interpretation of incentive plan designs.
- Manage transportation and warehouse component pay programs, including productivity‑based pay and specialized incentive structures.
- Perform detailed compensation reviews, troubleshoot discrepancies, and partner with Sales, Transportation, Warehouse, HR, and Finance to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain monthly and quarterly compensation records in accordance with company requirements.
- Utilize advanced Excel and Power BI to create, modify, and interpret reports and dashboards that support payroll transparency and operational decision‑making.
- Effectively use internal systems and tools to execute payroll and compensation processes. (Examples noted in email include Portal, UKG, WFD, APT, Alpha, BOLT, Omni Tracs, and Sales Portal.)
- Supervise payroll associates, including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution.
- Promote strong team alignment and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure operational excellence.
- Participate as a contributing team member across multiple departments to support business needs.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned in support of organizational goals.

Required Qualifications- High School Diploma
- 2-4 Years Experience Payroll Accounting, Finance and or related with knowledge of payroll taws and timekeeping systems.
- Must be able to work at each Opco one day per week.
