With over 550 employees, HGL is large enough to execute high profile projects, but small enough that personal working environments are possible with senior management and HGL s talented team members. HGL delivers the full spectrum of environmental investigation and remediation services and holds a nationwide Deactivation, Decommissioning and Removal (DD&R) contract. HGL seeks a dedicated, full-time manager to lead our DOE program nationwide.

Description

HGL manages a diverse portfolio of environmental investigation and remediation projects that roll up through client-focused programs. Our work with the Department of Energy (DOE) is one of our fastest growing programs with projects at Oak Ridge, Pantex, Nevada National Security Site and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. This role provides strategic leadership to develop new opportunities throughout the DOE complex, leverages ongoing work, maximizes the DD&R contract, and positions for new contract opportunities.

The role will develop marketing strategies and represent HGL at key events, utilizing an established network of client and partner contacts to further HGL’s brand.

The client program manager will lead and manage the company’s DOE contracts, ensuring projects align with client expectations, contractual requirements, and company objectives. This position oversees project teams, provides strategic leadership, supports business development within the DOE portfolio, and serves as a primary point of contact for client engagement. It may also mentor and develop project managers and may serve as project manager on select projects.

Ideally based in Knoxville, TN; candidates with appropriate skills and experience at other locations with active DOE operations will be considered.

Responsibilities/Duties

The person hired for this role will be responsible for:

  • Strategic planning and business development including selling out existing contracts and securing follow-on or new DOE contract opportunities.
  • Leading marketing efforts at key events such as the DOE Waste Management conference and ETEBA’s nationwide conferences.
  • Leveraging client and partner relationships to secure teaming agreements for HGL on key procurements throughout the DOE complex at EM and NNSA sites.
  • Developing and presenting to HGL executive management capture strategies for upcoming opportunities.
  • Working with capture teams to develop winning proposals for DOE-related opportunities, working closely with technical teams, HGL leadership, and teaming partners to submit high-quality and competitive proposals.
  • Ensuring projects within the program portfolio meet safety, quality, financial, and schedule targets.
  • Providing leadership and direction to Project Managers and working with the HGL team to project hiring needs for DOE projects.
  • Engaging in routine follow-up with DOE clients on project performance.
  • Actively engaging in risk management through identification and assessment of potential risks and challenges associated with the projects in the DOE program portfolio. Developing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize negative impacts.
  • Managing projects on large scale environmental investigation, remediation, and deactivation and decommissioning (D&D) projects.
  • Addressing and resolving project issues and challenges, including navigating complex client and team dynamics.
Required Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field required.
