Job Description
This position is responsible for providing additional paralegal and administrative support services to the Chief Counsel for Human Resources and to other designated members of the Legal Department relating to employment, labor law, human resources, OSHA, and collections matters, litigation tracking management in coordination with Company stakeholders and outside counsel, responding to all third party subpoenas requesting associate records, preparing separation agreements, and performing special projects for Team Health’s Legal Department, as needed.
Responsibilities- Coordination of Company efforts to respond to all third‑party subpoenas seeking records of Team Health associates and ensures that third party subpoenas seeking other information are directed to appropriate Company stakeholders.
- Tracks and summarizes all pending litigation matters in the weekly labor and employment Litigation List, including interfacing with outside counsel as needed.
- Ensures that EPLI insurers receive timely notice of relevant developments in all labor and employment litigation and potential litigation matters.
- Manages legal holds for all labor and employment litigation matters.
- Works in support of efforts to collect sign‑on bonuses, relocation expenses, and other amounts owed by associates who depart from Team Health before completing their contractually agreed minimum commitment, including by tracking collection actions, drafting collection letters, and coordinating with counsel.
- Prepares and manages outside legal budgets for labor and employment matters.
- Drafts separation agreements for departing associates.
- Provides support on OSHA matters by participating on calls with OSHA counsel, gathering information relating to OSHA inquiries, and scheduling meetings with stakeholders to resolve OSHA issues.
- Drafts and coordinates noncompete reminder letters and periodic letters to select nonemployee clinicians and their medical professional companies reminding them of their contractual tax, insurance, and corporate governance obligations.
- Acts as liaison between and among various stakeholders in the Team Health Legal Department, Team Health’s business units and other internal divisions, and outside counsel. Under the guidance of an attorney, oversees the progress of outside counsel on matters, responds to documents requests, interrogatories, and other information requests from outside counsel and ELPI insurance representatives, and works with internal counsel on such responses.
- Generates drafts of training materials, case status updates and summaries, and written correspondence and related communications requested by Team Health attorneys.
- Responsible for administrating our electronic legal invoicing system, which includes the setup of new law firms and matters to ensure the system’s ability to provide reporting on outside counsel spend.
- Responsible for obtaining proper settlement checks from both the Payroll Department and the Accounts Payable Department.
- Provides executive assistant level support including managing calendars, meetings, travel, distributing physical mail, correspondence, submitting expense reports, etc., for the Legal Department.
- Mails, tracks, and manages correspondence and other key documents and work product.
- Performs special projects, as assigned from time to time by Team Health’s Legal team.
- B.S./B.A. degree in Legal studies, Business, Political Science or similar field.
- Minimum of three (3) years legal experience or paralegal background, preferably with high volume litigation practice
- Excellent process and organizational skills.
- Outstanding computer skills (Excel, word processing, spreadsheet, and database management).
- Ability to extract data, analyze data, and provide appropriate summaries.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
