Overview

University Physicians' Association is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Patient Service Representative (PSR) for University Surgeons Associates located in Knoxville, TN.

General

Summary:

Check-In, Check-Out and Medical Records responsibilities. These duties are shared by the Front Office staff, where each employee is assigned to a specific role each day. Prefer at least 1 year experience in a medical front office role.

Responsibilities
  • Check-In
    :
    Check-in new and return patients, obtaining new patient paperwork on new patients and updating any demographic or insurance information on return patients. Ensure HIPAA forms are up-to-date, as well as consents and Welcome forms. Collect and post co-pays, balances and bad debts that are required at time of service. Call no-show and cancellation patients to reschedule. Balance cash drawer and front office journal at the end of the day and lock money in safe.
  • Check-Out
    :
    Check-out patients and schedule follow-up appointments and classes according to encounter form from provider. Maintain bariatric product supply room. Sell and bag products for the patients. Prepare encounter forms for next day’s patients. Maintain cash drawer and balance at the end of the day. Lock money in the safe.
  • Medical Records
    :
    Maintain faxes throughout the day. Call patients that have re-scheduled through confirmation calls. Process medical reports and schedule patients as needed. Process medical records requests. Send out no-show and cancellation letters.
  • Miscellaneous
    :
    Answer phone and route calls appropriately, mainly through tasking in Intergy. Scan any necessary paperwork and records into EHR. Schedule patients from phone calls and faxed requests. Process incoming referrals, gather medical records for provider approval and call patients to schedule appointments.
Qualifications

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, time management, and organization are critical to the overall success of the candidate.

Equipment Operator:
Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

Education:

High School or GED.
