We are seeking a compassionate, organized Medical Assistant to join our small, patient-focused Radiation Oncology practice. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting daily clinical operations, assisting physicians and radiation therapists, and ensuring a smooth, reassuring experience for patients undergoing cancer treatment.
This position requires both clinical and administrative skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a small, close-knit healthcare team while delivering an exceptional patient experience.
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Greet and prepare patients for visits, ensuring comfort and privacy.
- Record and update vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent data in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and caregivers throughout their treatment journey.
- Maintain exam rooms and ensure clinical supplies are stocked and organized.
- Coordinate with radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and nurses to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Monitor and document side effects or symptoms reported by patients and communicate findings to clinical staff.
Administrative Support
- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up visits or imaging studies.
- Manage incoming phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Support physician documentation and maintain accurate, confidential medical records.
- Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives within the clinic.
- Support other administrative needs of clinic as needed.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. - Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- CPR Certification preferred.
- Experience:
Prior experience in oncology, radiation therapy, or a medical specialty practice strongly preferred. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in EHR systems (ARIA), Microsoft Office, and basic medical equipment. - Soft Skills:
Compassionate communication, teamwork, and strong attention to detail.
