Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy at the front desk, providing excellent patient service.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems promptly, directing calls to appropriate staff members while maintaining courteous phone etiquette.
  • Manage medical records by filing, retrieving, and updating patient files in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards.
  • Verify insurance information and assist with insurance verification processes using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinical

    Works.
  • Schedule patient appointments accurately using medical scheduling software; coordinate care plans and follow-up appointments efficiently.
  • Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring proper coding with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding standards.
  • Support medical administrative functions including data entry, filing, and maintaining office supplies to ensure a well-organized clinic environment.
  • Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly preferred, especially clinic experience.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally via phone or in person.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and multi-line phone system operation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations; attention to detail in documentation review is crucial.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a medical office or healthcare setting; clinic experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
