Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist, Heart Cath Lab — Provide assistance to the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures, measuring cardiovascular parameters such as cardiac output, blood flow velocity, cardiovascular dynamics, cardiac electrophysiology parameters, intracardiac shunt detection, valve flow/valve area determinations, intracardiac pressure measurements, oximetry determination, cineangiocardiography, and the measurement and calculation of cardiac function indices.
The technologist assists in all phases of catheterization procedure including insertion of the catheter, operation of various electronic instruments and calculation of hemodynamic data.

Responsibilities- Clinical expertise and knowledge of unit such that complex patient management and physician issues are resolved independently.
- Serve as a role model, lead the team, serve as a preceptor, cross-train to other areas, and provide education to the community and department.
- Maintain established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, general safety and radiation safety standards, and equipment quality control.
- Actively participate in the orientation and training of new employees and students.
- Demonstrate proficiency in complex clinical skills to include IABP, stents, DCA, complex PTCA's, Ablations and Pacemakers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac anatomy and physiology, correlating pressure wave forms and rhythm analysis.
- Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring and sterile technique as required.
- Assist in the maintenance and effective use of all equipment and supplies in the clinical areas.
- Member of department or hospital committee with documented participation of 75%.
- Respond to patients, physicians and other customers’ needs in a timely manner.
- Provide six (6) credit hours of in-service training per year.
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards. Complete required education assignments annually. Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Minimum Education:
None specified; must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. - Minimum Experience:
6 months experience within an invasive cardiac catheterization laboratory that performs invasive cardiac catheterization and associated procedures. Education clinical experience for certification and/or licensure is acceptable. - Licensure/Certification:
Must hold current registration as one or more of the following: CCI Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and/or CCI Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) and/or ARRT RT(R) with VI or CI designation. Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
