Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist at the Women’s Hospital performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures with a primary focus on women’s health, including obstetric, gynecologic, and breast imaging. This role requires technical expertise, compassionate patient care, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary women’s health team to support accurate diagnosis and positive patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations including OB, GYN, pelvic, transvaginal, and limited abdominal studies.
- Conduct obstetric ultrasounds across all trimesters, including fetal growth, anatomy scans, and biophysical profiles.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining exams, ensuring comfort, and addressing patient concerns with sensitivity.
- Acquire and evaluate ultrasound images for technical quality and completeness.
- Accurately document findings and patient data in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist physicians with specialized procedures and high-risk obstetric imaging as needed.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure proper infection control and safety standards are followed.
- Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous performance improvement.
- Collaborate with radiologists, OB/GYNs, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide compassionate care to patients during emotionally sensitive situations.
Education
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field from an accredited program.
Licensure & Certification
- ARDMS certification required (OB/GYN preferred).
- Current BLS certification required.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical ultrasound experience preferred.
- Women’s imaging, OB/GYN, or maternal-fetal medicine experience strongly preferred.
- New graduates may be considered with strong clinical rotations in women’s health.
