Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Electrical Engineering Intern to support our engineering team with the design, testing, analysis, and documentation of electrical systems and components. This internship offers hands‑on experience working on real‑world engineering projects in a collaborative, professional environment. Aptim is a leading provider in integrated, comprehensive services in a variety of markets and industry. Our highly skilled multi‑discipline teams of professionals are strategically located throughout the United States and abroad to efficiently provide safe and sustainable solutions to complex challenges faced by government, public institutions, and commercial clients. This is a temporary position.
The STRIVE Internship Program is a 12‑week experience running from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026. Interns are required to be fully available during Week 1 (May 18–22) and Week 12 (August 3–7) of the program. Week 12 includes company‑paid travel to an APTIM office (location to be announced) for an end‑of‑internship celebration. Interns are expected to minimize absences to ensure a meaningful program experience.
The program observes Memorial Day (May 25, 2026) and Independence Day (July 3, 2026, observed).
- Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering.
- Assist in the design and development of electrical systems and components.
- Support schematic creation, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
- Assist with electrical testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
- Collect and analyze engineering data.
- Support testing.
- Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
- Participate in design reviews and engineering meetings.
- Follow company safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
- Be aware of costs and schedule related to own work.
- Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others.
- Communicate information, ask questions, and check for understanding.
- Contribute to a team environment.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Completion of at least one year of core engineering coursework.
- Basic understanding of circuit analysis and electrical principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Has basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in electrical engineering.
- Experience with schematic capture or PCB design tools.
- Familiarity with test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
- Basic knowledge of power systems, controls, or electronics.
- Programming experience (MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or PLCs, CADD).
- Prior internship, lab, or relevant project experience.
- FE and EIT candidates preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting.
- Willingness to work across engineering disciplines.
- Strong multitasking skills.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $22 to $24.13 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
