Application Engineering Manager

Position Overview

The Applications Engineering Manager at Aqua-Chem provides leadership to the Application Engineering team in performing complex technical assignments such as reviewing specifications, selecting equipment, and executing projects from receipt of RFQ through award and turnover to the execution team. The employee will provide technical leadership to internal stakeholders and serve as the technical expert in the area assigned.

Dependent on Experience | $115,000 - $200,000 Salary

• Perform consulting services such as technical and financial feasibility studies, innovative concept development, system choices, (circular) process design, and techno-economic evaluation, plus smart data usage and process optimization.
• Provide technical leadership to the Application Team across all markets Aqua‑Chem participates in.
• Collaborate intensively with the sales team to provide advice and information on technical solutions; jointly prepare project plans and develop winning solutions.
• Deliver technical solutions for P&, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), and General Arrangement.
• Review customer specifications and apply Aqua‑Chem’s suite of solutions to meet requirements.
• Develop training material and tools for the Application team, including sizing of thermal‑fluid components and systems.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on accurate costing tools, standardization, and proposal strategy.
• Lead process design for complex solutions including multi‑skid trains and distribution loops.
• Provide input and feedback to the executive team on strategy and deployment.
• Collaborate with international sister companies to deploy global strategy and transfer technical knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with local and project‑specific design codes and regulations.
• Assist with obtaining technical quotes for non‑standard equipment/components.
• Work directly with Project Engineers during technical execution of projects.
• Check the work of Application Engineers and provide mentoring and training.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.

• 3+ years of leadership experience or demonstrated capability.
• 4‑year accredited engineering degree (BSME or BChE preferred; other engineering disciplines with relevant experience encouraged).
• 10+ years of experience in the biopharma industry is required.
• Strong technical background in biopharma critical utility water systems and processes is required.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must demonstrate a high level of ownership and think and act like a business owner.
• Must be a skilled problem solver with exceptional resourcefulness.
• Limited international and domestic travel may be required.
