Your Role

Type One Energy seeks a highly motivated Neutronics Engineer to support the design, construction, and licensing of high‑field stellarator systems. The role focuses on radiation transport analysis for near‑term Infinity One Project and long‑term Fusion Pilot Plant.

Responsibilities
  • Develop computational solutions for nuclear challenges in D‑D and D‑T fusion devices (radiation transport, damage, heating, activation, decay heat, shielding, dose).
  • Perform neutron‑transport modeling, radiological engineering, nuclear design, and operational health physics.
  • Use advanced transport tools to evaluate design choices (materials, geometry, conditions) on performance metrics.
  • Research and analyze nuclear design strategies related to system performance, safety, and radiological waste.
  • Collaborate cross‑functional teams to integrate neutronics and radiological considerations into product development.
  • Provide realistic feedback on timelines, resource requirements, and issues to enable duty completion.
What You’ll Need
  • Educational background in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Fundamental understanding of nuclear and radiation physics, radiation transport, and radiation impacts on systems.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo methods for neutron/photon transport (OpenMC, MCNP) and familiarity with SCALE, ORIGIN, GEANT4, FISPACT, ALARA, PyNE, CAD tools (Cubit) – preferred.
  • Strong computational skills; experience programming Python in Linux environment.
  • Experience with collaborative code development using Git Hub.
  • Knowledge of nuclear codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to troubleshoot complex issues and propose innovative solutions.
