As a Metal Casting Process Improvement Engineer, you’ll champion initiatives that make our operations safer, smarter, and more efficient—without sacrificing quality. Your work will directly reduce cost, conserve energy, and eliminate waste while ensuring that every part meets exacting specifications.
- Continuously refine aluminum die casting parameters to boost product quality, throughput, and yield.
- Ensure die, tooling, and equipment readiness by coordinating with toolroom and maintenance teams.
- Strengthen product traceability by overseeing laser marking systems and consistent application of 2D matrix codes.
- Advance auto deburring to reliably remove burrs and sharp edges, achieving required finishes.
- Direct trim pressing to remove flash efficiently while maintaining dimensional intent.
- Apply distortion tables to identify warpage and drive corrective actions that secure dimensional accuracy.
- Verify compliance to engineering specifications, internal quality standards, and customer requirements using robust measurement and testing methods.
- Design and execute process, equipment, and layout improvements that cut cost, improve energy efficiency, and reduce waste.
- Lead root cause investigations to address defects and process deviations; deploy corrective and preventive actions.
- Capture learning—record process trials and changes; write and update SOPs and technical reports.
- Partner closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and R&D to align maintenance and manufacturing priorities.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; or 4–6 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or GED; or an equivalent blend of education and experience. - Experience:
3 years in aluminum die casting or metal casting manufacturing engineering. - Skills and tools:
Comprehensive knowledge of aluminum die casting processes. - Experience with laser marking, 2D matrix codes, and traceability practices.
- CAD (Solid Works, AutoCAD) proficiency and familiarity with casting simulation tools.
- Strong grounding in metallurgy, tooling design, and manufacturing methodologies.
- Preferred exposure to auto deburring, trim press operations, and distortion tables.
- Fanuc robotics experience for automation and robotic systems integration.
- Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement background is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and root cause analysis discipline.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Certification:
Lean Six Sigma certification (or equivalent) is a plus.
