Senior Electrical Designer – Natrium – Bechtel Corporation

Location:

Knoxville, TN – Hybrid – In-person 3 days/week.

Plan, develop, and review electrical engineering design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for the Natrium advanced reactor project.

• Lead or administer work of electrical designers and drafters for business line technology, including layout preparation, detailed CAD modeling, and construction drawings.
• Design raceway, equipment location, and grounding layout; maintain C&R schedule and conduit design.
• Produce drawings and documentation per design standards, including lighting, communications, grounding, and lightning protection systems.
• Ensure designs comply with all applicable codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70) and industry standards.
• Input 3D model data to 2D drawings, annotate, and prepare construction-ready drawings.
• Perform lighting calculations with AGI 32 and grounding grid calculations with ETAP.
• Develop material specifications using Specs Intact.

• AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD; 7‑8 years of electrical design experience, or 9‑12 years relevant experience without a degree.

• Lead designer or supervisory experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
• Experience in nuclear power plant design.
• Proven 2D CADD and 3D modeling skills.
• Experience with electronic cable management systems (e.g., SETROUTE).
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and multiple tasks.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Hands‑on 3D electrical model design platform experience.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Experience on Bechtel, DoD, or DOE projects.
