Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a full-time Program Director for its Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for an experienced physical therapy educator to guide a well-established program within a collaborative, student-centered academic environment.
Position OverviewThe Program Director provides academic, administrative, and strategic leadership for the DPT program, working closely with university and departmental leadership to ensure program excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and positive leadership among faculty and staff while ensuring graduates are well prepared for licensure and professional practice.
The position is offered at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the DPT program, including CAPTE compliance and accreditation
- Oversee curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement
- Manage fiscal and administrative operations of the program
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate core faculty
- Support student success and outcomes, including preparation for licensure
- Serve as a liaison between faculty, administration, students, and the broader university community
- Support program growth, innovation, and interprofessional collaboration
- Program Highlights: 36-month curriculum with 34 weeks of clinical education
- Over 150 clinical partnerships
- Shared modern, interprofessional learning spaces with LMU’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program
- Strong emphasis on collaboration, research, service learning, and contemporary teaching methods
- Earned degree in Physical Therapy from an institution accredited by an ED-recognized agency
- Active, unencumbered PT license in any U.S. jurisdiction and eligibility for licensure in Tennessee
- Earned academic doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D.,
D.Sc., or equivalent) - Minimum six years of full-time higher education experience
- Minimum three years of full-time experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE-accredited entry-level PT program
- Qualifications appropriate for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience in higher education
- Prior experience as a DPT Program Director
- Demonstrated experience with CAPTE accreditation processes and outcomes assessment
- Professional involvement at the state, national, or international level
- At least five years of full-time leadership experience in higher education administration
