Overview

Support a peaceful and nurturing Montessori environment for children ages 3–6. This role includes assisting the classroom team during the school day and leading mixed-age aftercare in the afternoons. Staff also help with summer programming. Ideal candidates are dependable, warm, flexible, and committed to children’s independence and well-being.

Schedule
  • School Year:
    Mon–Fri 10:30 AM–6:00 PM;
    Couple of Thursdays 10:30 AM–7:00 PM
  • Summer (4 of 6 weeks):
    Mon–Fri 8:15 AM–4:15 PM
  • In-service Days: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with classroom routines, materials, and environment upkeep
  • Supervise children during work cycles, outdoor play, lunch, nap, and transitions
  • Support toileting and hygiene respectfully and appropriately
  • Maintain a calm, engaging, and safe aftercare space
  • Encourage independence, peaceful problem-solving, and social connection
  • Participate in nature-based and creative summer programming
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with children and colleagues
  • Attend meetings, training, and school events
Qualifications
  • At least 21 years old with a high school diploma (college coursework preferred)
  • Experience with children ages 3–6 in a caregiving or educational setting
  • Interest in or knowledge of Montessori philosophy
  • Calm, consistent, and collaborative presence
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather and actively engage with children

Compensation

Hourly pay ranges from $14.25–$18.25/hr, based on experience, education, and certifications using a point-based pay scale.
