Manufacturing Engineer, CNC Machinist
Logical Personnel is supporting a leading engineering company in West Yorkshire. With work due to start early 2026, we are currently seeking experienced and dedicated CNC Programmer / Setter / Operators to join our skilled team on a self employed contract basis.
Job Role:
As a CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines with Siemens, Heidenhain, and Fanuc controls. Your main tasks will include creating and optimizing CNC programs, ensuring high-quality production, and maintaining efficiency in the workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
Program, set up, and operate CNC machines with Siemens, Heidenhain, and Fanuc controls (milling, turning, or both, depending on your expertise)
Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD/CAM data, and work instructions
Create and modify CNC programs for complex components, ensuring they meet precise specifications and tolerances
Set up machines, including selecting the correct tooling, materials, and work pieces for each job
Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC machines to ensure smooth operation and minimize downtime
Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to inspect parts and ensure they meet quality standards
Adjust machine settings and program parameters to improve cycle times and part quality
Adhere to all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
Maintain accurate records of production, including timesheets, materials used, and any process adjustments
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience in CNC programming, setting, and operating Siemens, Heidenhain, and Fanuc machinery
Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages for Siemens, Heidenhain, and Fanuc systems
Experience with CAD/CAM software and interpreting engineering drawings
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues
High attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality, accurate parts
Competence in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
Familiarity with workshop health and safety standards
Relevant qualifications in CNC machining or a related field (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred)
