General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store as well as general operations and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening and closing the store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and supervising operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Prioritises safety and practices safe behaviours.
  • Aware of sales‑floor conditions, reports unsafe practices.
  • Secures building (entry control, EAS daily checks, cash office, armored pickups).
  • Removes clutter, ensures clear egress.
  • Ensures customer safety—accident prevention, reporting, emergency procedures.
  • Tests fire alarm systems, responds to after‑hours alarms.
Customer Service
  • Treats all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Shows courtesy, friendliness, professionalism; recognises associates.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represents and supports the company brand.
  • Maintains professional appearance and dress‑code compliance.
  • Keeps all areas clean, well‑maintained, merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns meet standards.
  • Receives merchandise truck when needed, processes with urgency.
  • Handles non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintains cleanliness/organisation of stockrooms; ensures back‑stock security and processing.
  • Makes merchandising of department and back‑stock compliant.
  • Reduces loss due to damage.
  • Follows monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Manages floor moves, promotional signing, re‑wraps.
Loss Prevention
  • Understands Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
  • Maintains strong front‑floor presence, engages customers and associates.
  • Safeguards confidential info, cash, and merchandise.
  • Maintains PVM system, conducts “Code 50” inspections.
  • Executes best practices while maximising productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Ensures front‑end associates meet company standards.
  • Maintains pace, energy, presence; manages line to reduce wait time.
  • Trains and coaches on registers, shortage controls, policies.
  • Controls associate break schedule.
  • Ensures equipment and supplies function properly, ensures go‑back compliance.
  • Teaches “Scan and Bag” best practice, ensures merchandise salability.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintains maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Audits garment tags.
  • Ensures go‑back compliance, ticketing, scanning, securing.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
  • Conducts cash pulls, bank deposits per policy.
  • Handles front‑end control for refunds, approvals, safe security, register voids, media, break schedules.
  • Manages payroll administration: punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll, reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Basic mathematical calculations in retail context.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Operate store equipment, including PDTs, registers, PC.
  • Spend up to 100 % of working time standing, walking, moving.
  • Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, lift >25 lb.
