Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med-Surg RN with Oregon licensure and Epic proficiency for a 13-week acute care assignment.
Responsibilities
• Work in an acute care Med-Surg unit within a trauma level 3 setting
• Patient population includes general surgery, total joints, gyn surgeries, general medical, CVA, PNA, CHF, ETOH, end of life care, and COVID
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:7-8 with nurse aide support
• RNs titrate insulin drips and utilize v60 vents, CPAPs, and high flow nasal cannula equipment
• 12-hour day shiftsare standard, with every other weekend required depending on needs
• Epic EMR is used for all charting and is required experience
• No on-call or floating requirements, though floating may be requested if skill set allows
• RNs are responsible for reading and verifying telemetry strips in coordination with monitor techs
• Support structure includes charge nurse and 24/7 hospital supervisor
• Orientation consists of 1-2 shifts based on experience and prior assignments
• Holiday coverage is required based on unit needs
• Clean, professional attire is required—no specific scrub color mandated
• Securing housing with pets in the area may be very difficult
Requirements
• Active OR RN license required
• Minimum 2.5 years of nursing experience (excluding first 6 months)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• General surgery nursing experience required; total joint experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
