Role:
Speech Pathologist in Speech Therapy. This position requires licensure and certification as described in the qualifications, with on-site duties and standard full-time hours.
Required:
Oregon License in Speech-Language Pathology, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (or CF in progress toward obtaining ASHA CCC-SLP). CPR certification required by end of month from 60 days of hire and maintained; and computer literacy skills.
Education:
Masters or better in Speech-Language Pathology.
Licenses & Certifications:
ASHA CCC (or CF in progress toward CCC-SLP), CPR Hands Only, Oregon License (Speech-Language Pathology).
Essential Job Functions- Under valid referral process, carries out an individualized program of speech therapy, including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and effective communication to maximize a patient’s progress toward achieving functional goals.
- Provides direct patient care within scope of practice. Seeks excellence in practice by utilizing evidence-based or best practice techniques.
- Has knowledge and skills to care for the cognitive, physical, and developmental needs of the populations and age groups that will be receiving services. Is kind and welcoming to all, regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, or other factors.
- Continuously monitors patients’ functional needs and progress, adjusting plan of care as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provides counseling to patients and patients’ families/caregivers about results of testing and recommended treatment options. Involves patients and families in goal setting and treatment decision making process.
- Clear, concise, and timely documentation including evaluation, plan of care, daily treatments, progress notes and discharge summaries.
- Clear and timely documentation of other conversation with or in regard to the patient (e.g. telephone encounter or discussions with providers, vendors, etc.).
- Demonstrates integrity through compliance with insurance regulations, accountable billing procedures, judicious use of patient’s resources.
- Maintains good efficiency through effective use of downtime that occurs through patient no shows and/or cancellations.
- Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, Quality Improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Encourages innovation by enhancing professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-services, and workshops. Keeps up to date on professional literature.
- Communicates in a kind and respectful manner to maintain a positive working relationship with all health professionals, ancillary staff, patients, and caregivers/family.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations.
- Serves as Mentoring SLP for Speech Therapy students at various stages of their education.
- Allows observation by and provides mentorship to high school or undergraduate students.
- Promotes the profession and Sky Lakes organization through participation in in-services to residents or other hospital departments, and participation in community education events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
