Micro Market Associate

Job Description

Performs various duties within the Micro Market and vending machines including functionality and operation of machines, ensuring product availability, maintaining machines, and handling payments. Provides customer service, using professional selling techniques, and operates a motor vehicle as part of job duties.

• Maintains Exchange owned machines and micro markets daily. Inspects and replenishes products (sandwiches, cakes, pies, popcorn, salads, fruits, pastries, sodas, yogurt, detergent, etc.) and ensures perishable item shelf-life is observed (documents removal of expired food) and sanitizes areas while preventing spoilage.
• Greets customers and provides sales-related assistance; assists in product selection and suggests complementary items.
• Keeps assigned areas stocked; merchandises neatly; communicates stock needs and customer preferences to supervisor; participates in department meetings to discuss improvements in service and sales performance.
• Sets up and maintains prices and Exchange visual programs in micro markets and machines; maintains current price lists.
• Maintains cleanliness and order in the micro market (floors, counter-tops, coolers, trash); assists with annual merchandise resets to meet standards of adjacency, branding, and placement.
• Manages inventory-related devices (laptop, tablet, scanner, handheld devices) for inventory, receiving, and ordering.
• Assists in relocating and installing new machines; cleans interiors/exteriors and performs settings/adjustments on food dispensing, liquid dispensing, and coin changer units.
• Collects money from vending machines and micro markets; verifies cash with vendors as required; records machine servicing data via handheld devices and documents counts using specified forms; handles refunds and coin jams as needed.
• Maintains inventory control across micro markets, trucks, and routes; collects and processes daily cash receipts and deposits per procedures.
• Interacts professionally with customers and coworkers, adheres to dress code, supports vending team members, and stays informed about merchandise.
• Learns product details and pricing; communicates product information clearly to customers.
• Operates a motor vehicle to perform duties; loads/unloads merchandise, protects items from damage weather; prepares a Daily Trip Report for trips made.
• Adheres to preventive maintenance schedules (oil changes, tune-ups, brakes) with designated personnel; maintains fuel level and retains receipts; keeps vehicle interior clean and parked per day’s end.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Regularly lifts and transports up to 40 lbs; may handle heavier items with assistance or equipment; frequent walking, bending, and reaching.
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors; exposure to weather when loading/unloading; driving in all weather; potential for cuts or bruises.

• Job Requirements:
  
  Must possess a valid state driver’s license or CDL; ability to operate a motor vehicle safely; ability to pass necessary background checks (e.g., security clearances); must complete the GSA defensive driving course.

  Experience:
  
  One year of progressive clerical, office, or retail sales experience with demonstrated customer interaction skills. Substitution: half-year of academic study may substitute for 6 months of experience.
• Specialized
  
  Experience:
  
  One year of progressively responsible experience in retail fundamentals, including sales, services, vending store operations, and warehouse activities.
