Location & Availability: Applicants must be located in the Boston or Quincy, MA area, as on‑site presence is required 1-2 days a week. No relocation assistance will be provided.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our growing, dynamic team, delivering exceptional service to our customers. In this role you will support a large, important customer environment and also lend your expertise to a diverse portfolio of smaller customers and teammates as needed.

Leverage your deep knowledge of networking technologies—including Cisco, HPE, Dell switches, Sonic Wall, Fortinet, Meraki, and Palo Alto firewalls—to manage, troubleshoot, and optimize mission‑critical networks, ensuring reliability, security, and performance. Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives to elevate our service delivery.

Capabilities in municipal environments and SLED (State, Local, and Education) sector expertise are a definite plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Quickly assess and resolve network‑related incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
  • Proactive Network Maintenance: Perform firmware updates, patches, and upgrades on all network devices; monitor health and performance; create and maintain SOPs, technical diagrams, and runbooks.
  • Communication and

    Collaboration:

    Provide timely updates to stakeholders during incidents and maintenance; collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate network services; participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation.
Technical Skills
  • Switching and Routing: Expertise with Cisco, HP, and Dell switches; solid understanding of VLANs, trunking, and spanning tree.
  • Firewalls: Hands‑on experience with Sonic

    WALL, Fortinet, Meraki, and Palo Alto firewalls, including policy configuration, troubleshooting, high availability, and optimization.
  • Wireless and Cloud Networking: Experience with Cisco and Meraki wireless.
  • Load Balancing: Proficiency with physical and virtual F5 load balancers, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Monitoring: Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Solar Winds.
Soft Skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear updates and comprehensive documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
Experience
  • Minimum 7–10 years in network engineering roles within enterprise‑scale environments.
  • Proven incident management, RCA, and delivery of network solutions under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with firmware updates, patch management, and hardware lifecycle management.
Certifications (Preferred)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.
