Responsibilities
  • Write and review various technical documents to carry out and record the design process, analyze existing products, and specify how to maintain new and existing products to fully develop their useful service life.
  • Coordinate design of new systems, design significant modifications to existing systems, and provide technical support for sustainment of new and existing systems.
  • Provide support to other codes and shops, perform calculations, and assist with shop/shipboard tests on electrical support systems and services.
  • Troubleshoot problems and recommend repairs, replacements, modifications, and operational changes as well as conduct studies for solutions to electrical support system and service problems.
  • Order material, prepare man-hour estimates, status and technical reports, correspondence, schedules and milestones.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. Required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • May be required to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
  • GS-11:
    At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
    • Experience or knowledge with electronic submarine or similar systems, operating principles, component functions and testing requirements.
    • Experience resolving emergent problems that may delay project completion.
    • Experience planning and executing assignments and projects to meet overall objectives.
    • Experience to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • GS-12:
    At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
    • Experience or knowledge with electronic submarine or similar systems, operating principles, component functions and testing requirements.
    • Experience resolving emergent problems that may delay project completion.
    • Experience planning and executing assignments and projects to meet overall objectives.
    • Experience to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Education:

    Degree in Engineering from a program leading to a bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one ABET-accredited program, or a program including specific courses in engineering sciences as listed. Alternatively, combination of education and experience including professional registration (EIT/PE) or successful FE exam, or completion of at least 60 semester hours of specified courses. Foreign education may be accepted if comparable to a U.S. accredited institution.
