Position: Full-Time LRV Operator - Keolis Grand River
Location: WaterlooThe main purpose of the role is to operate the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operate the LRV according to customer and safety requirementsMonitor displays, dials and other indicators to ensure LRV is operating effectivelyStop at each LRV stop, ensure the door opening and closing sequences in a safe mannerAssist customers with boarding and disembarking the LRV when requiredFollow instructions the Central Control Facility (CCF) via radio systemCommunicate updates on delays and incidents to passengers and CCFPerform LRV checks for all equipment prior to serviceReport LRV, station and depot defects to resolve as soon as possibleRespond to customer needs and follow Keolis’ practices in an emergencyPerform other duties as requestedKnowledge and Skills
Customer-focused with the ability to respond in a courteous and professional mannerCommunicate clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in writingStrong attention to detail with a strong focus on safety and qualityFollow written and verbal instructionsAble to work effectively independently as well as part of a teamSelf-starter with the ability to resolve any needs or requirementsRespond quickly, calmly and appropriately to emergency situationsMechanical aptitude to understand general knowledge of LRV operationsStrong multi-tasking skills to respond effectively to the work environmentGeneral geographical knowledge of Kitchener and WaterlooPrerequisites
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.Valid Class G driver's licenceMinimum 5 years licensed driving experienceProfessional driving experience (asset)Able to differentiate colors, including distance vision and close visionThe ability to quickly respond to a signal (sound, light, image) when it appearsThe ability to effective maintain the required control of the LRVThe ability to move and reach with hands, to grasp, manipulate or move objectsAbility to hear sounds and signals for effective operation of LRV and response to surroundingsAble to lift up to 20 lbs occasionallyAble to sit for extended periods of timeWorking Conditions
Regular interactions with the public, including vulnerable persons as well as other Keolis employeesExposed to the outdoors and different weather conditionsPersonal Protective Equipment is required40 hours per week Rotating Day, Evening, and Weekend shiftsOn-site positionSalary : 35,79$
