Driving Growth and Crafting Success in Category ManagementAs an Associate Merchandise Manager, you will be responsible for managing a subset of a product assortment, sales, inventory, margin, and supplier relationships within an assigned category, to deliver on established annual financial plans. Led by the Merchandise Manager, this opportunity suits someone who has great negotiation and communication skills as well as retail industry experience.
Ready to make an impact? Here’s how:- Work closely with the Merchandise Manager on the development, communication, and execution of category strategies in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
- Deliver financial metrics assigned to the category including POS, shipments, margin, and other business metrics including but not limited to inventory metrics in conjunction with Supply Chain.
- Develop and maintain a productive and profitable national brand and private label assortment in the Dealer Support Centre and through direct‑to‑store channels.
- Build competitive advantage for HHSL using category knowledge acquired through industry experience, trade shows, store visits, and supplier interactions both domestically and internationally.
- Negotiate and build strong relationships with key suppliers to support corporate initiatives.
- Provide strong leadership, support, and direction to Merchandise Analysts and the collaborative cross‑functional team.
- Develop and execute successful promotions and support marketing initiatives.
- Support Home Dealer Owners with timely, accurate, and valuable category information.
- Degree in Business and/or Purchasing and retail industry experience and knowledge of category management practices preferred.
- Business acumen and analytical skills with an entrepreneurial attitude.
- Embraces technology with strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to balance, prioritize, and manage several projects, while meeting deadlines.
- Flexible and adaptable; able to operate independently and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to manage, motivate, and direct a team.
- Knowledge of Home Hardware’s departments, systems and processes a definite asset.
- Ability to work additional or varied hours as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs to accommodate our hybrid working model.

You will receive:- The expected starting salary range for this role is $70,600 - $98,800; the final offer will reflect relevant skills and experience.
