Human Resources Generalist

Overview

Liftsafe Group of Companies is a privately owned company that designs, builds, inspects and maintains lifting, material handling, and fall protection systems equipment.

The purpose of this role is to ensure compliance with applicable legislation as it relates to Human Resources and Health & Safety. The incumbent will oversee various administrative duties relating to recruitment/selection, benefits administration, and health and safety matters. This position is posted due to an upcoming vacancy.

• Overseeing the recruitment and selection process; creating job ads, conducting interviews, and participating in the final selection process.
• Entering new hires into various internal systems – Employee/company portal, training, benefits, etc.
• Developing and implementing policies and procedures.
• Client portal management via. Avetta, ISN, etc.
• Providing advice and guidance on policies and legislation.
• Assembling data required for tenders and contractor packages.
• Conducting spot checks on employees, ensuring quality and safety standards are being met.
• Working with employees and clients on Human Resources and Health and Safety matters.
• Overseeing training of new and existing employees.
• Participation and assuming crucial roles in the Joint Health and Safety Committee and Social Committee.
• WSIB claims management.
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Key qualifications include being proactive and punctuality.
• Knowledge of the crane and lifting device industry is an asset.
• Able to balance several competing priorities.
• 3-5 years’ experience in HR and H&S.
• Manufacturing industry experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as a team to accomplish projects.

• Travel between LGOC locations will be necessary.
• Background noise can be distracting at times – other conversations, noise from working area, etc.
• Occasional outdoor work may be required for site spot checks.
• Occasionally dealing with tense situations.

• Sitting for extended periods of time.
• Frequent use of phone.
• Frequent use of computer – typing, reading information from a screen.
• Frequent and repetitive movement.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
