What matters to us

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and education in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  • Professional environmental designation(e.g., CISEC or equivalent) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum 1 year experience environmental, construction, or compliance role.
  • Familiarity with provincial/federal environmental regulations and Best Management Practices(BMPs) for construction.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting inspections, investigations, and compliance reviews.
  • Strong communication skills for reporting, proficiency in field sampling, and proficiency in MSOffice.

Your contribution to our company

Summary of Position:

An Environmental Inspector at Strabag Inc. focuseson monitoring construction sites for environmental compliance for municipal, provincial and federal regulations. Responsibilities include field investigations,erosion/sediment control inspections, waste management, and ensuring adherence to environmental permits to protect surrounding habitats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly inspect work sites to identify environmental hazards, improper hazardous waste storage, or pollution sources.
  • Ensure all site operations comply with environmental legislation, environmental management plans (EMPs), and permits.
  • Monitor air, water, and soil quality, including checking erosion and sediment control (ESC) measures.
  • Document inspection findings, prepare reports on compliance status, and recommend mitigation actions.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained and assist in training site staff on environmental requirements.
  • Participate in environmental assessments and audits.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental considerations in project planning, design and implementation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
  • Assist in resolving environmental concerns and addressing inquiries from stakeholders.
