- Reviews daily census and processes cases for patients requesting assistance, ensuring all proper documentation is obtained.
- Counsels patients or representatives on hospital accounts to meet requirements for charity programs and state-funded programs.
- Identifies in-patients with Medicaid Share of Cost (SOC) for bill tracking and submission to the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
- Identifies patients with Medicaid eligibility who have delivered a newborn during the current admission and adds the newborn to the guarantor's Medicaid.
- Maintains effective rapport with Case Management staff to aid in proper discharge planning and ensure financial assessments are updated.
- Intermediate knowledge of computers, internet use and typing skills required. [Required]
- Must have basic understanding of Medical Terminology. [Required]
- Good communication skills when discussing personal/patient related issues. [Required]
- Responsive to ever-changing hospital needs and acts accordingly. [Preferred]
- Proficiency in performance of basic math functions, capability of communicating professionally and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. [Preferred]
