Learning Assistant II

Overview

Valencia College is hiring a Learning Assistant II (Tutor) to join the Learning Support Tutoring team at the Osceola Campus. This position will be supporting students in Science.

• Provides one-on-one or small group tutoring to currently enrolled students in a discipline.
• Assesses academic ability of students using provided instruments.
• Meets with supervisory staff on a regular basis to discuss student progress.
• Assists supervisor with academic needs assessment.
• Documents student progress for each session using provided instruments.
• Implements an academic action plan for each session using provided instruments.
• Participates in staff development training.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Required Minimum Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED.
• Must have evidence of successful completion of college-level academic work.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  
  ability to follow instructions, work varied hours including nights and weekends, use computer hardware and software, tutor individuals or small groups in advanced coursework, use effective learning techniques.

• Location:
  
  Kissimmee, FL 34744 - Osceola Campus. Fully onsite.

• Salary Range: $16.25 per hour
• Flexible schedule during center hours up to 10 hours per week;
  Center hours:
  Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
