Valencia College is now hiring a Learning Assistant II (Tutor) to support students in Science at the Osceola Campus.
The ideal candidate will have- Previous tutoring experience
- Successfully completed one or more of the following courses:
- Biology:
Biological Science, Biology I, Biology II, Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II - Chemistry:
Chemistry in Everyday Life, Introduction to General Chemistry, General Chemistry I and II
- Biology:
- FICA Alternative to Social Security
- Free Lynx Bus Transportation

- This position operates in a Fully Onsite environment.
- This position is eligible for Veteran’s Preference under Florida Statute 295.07(5)(a), F.S.

Position Title: Learning Assistant II (Tutor)
Location: Kissimmee, FL 34744 - Osceola Campus
Schedule: Flexible schedule during center hours up to 10 hours per week. Center hours:
Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Salary: $16.25 per hour
Essential Job FunctionsRequired Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED.
Required Experience: Evidence of successful completion of college-level academic work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisor and other faculty.
- Ability to work a variety of hours, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to use computer hardware and software programs related to discipline area.
- Ability to tutor individuals or small groups of students in advanced coursework.
- Ability to use appropriate learning techniques and strategies to achieve specific learning outcomes.
- * Have you earned a B or higher in any of the following courses: BSC 1005, BSC 1010, BSC 1011, CHM 1020, CHM 1025, CHM 1045/2045, CHM 1046/2046, BSC 2085/2093, BSC 2086/2094, and/or PSY 2012? If yes, please tell us the specific courses you earned a B or higher in AND would feel comfortable tutoring. (Open Ended Question)
