Historic Buildings Technician

Overview

Historic Buildings Technician, 37 hours per week. Salary £33,382 - £35,697 / £17.30 - £18.50 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance). We are looking for a Historic Buildings Technician to assist the Team Leader Heritage in maintaining the Listed Buildings and sites within the Council's remit.

• Assist the Team Leader Heritage in maintaining the Listed Buildings and sites within the Council's remit.
• Support the Council in a busy period of works, including a proposed 10-year plan of renovation works of the Cathedral and major conservation works to other Listed Buildings.
• Work across a range of teams, services and communities to bring real, positive change to the maintenance of these culturally and socially important assets.

• Relevant Stonemason qualification at SCQF 6/7, i.e. SVQ3/NVQ3, OR, where this is not held, a minimum of 3 years relevant experience as detailed in the job description.
• Experience of working on historic buildings and the technical skills required to maintain, repair and replace stonework on traditional sandstone 'A Listed Buildings'.
• Ability to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
• This post is subject to Level 1 Disclosure Scotland clearance.
