Corporate Policy Officer

FTE Annual Salary incl. DIA – £34,458 – £37,123

Hourly Rate of Pay incl. DIA – £18.88 – £20.34

Location:

Council Offices, Kirkwall

Hours:

2 x 35 hours per week

You will be reporting to the Service Manager Policy & Communications.

Your working pattern is Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.

The purpose of this role is to ensure Council Leadership are fully informed and supported on all matters relating to Council policy.

We're looking for two exceptional Corporate Policy Officers to join Orkney Islands Council's Corporate Policy team – a team at the very heart of how the Council delivers for our islands. These roles are fundamental to the Council's success, providing the insight and analysis that will drive the decisions shaping Orkney's future.

As a Corporate Policy Officer, you will equip the Corporate Leadership Team and Elected Members with the research, analysis, and briefings they need to make informed, strategic decisions. Support lobbying efforts with national governments to secure investment and policy wins for Orkney, and ensure community voices are heard and acted upon, working as part of the wider Corporate Policy & Communications team.

Your work will directly influence the Council's priorities and help tackle the big challenges ahead.
