Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Medicine, Surgery and Anaesthetics.

Locum Consultants with a passion for high quality, patient-centred care, and a desire to deliver the best medical service to our patients. The organisation aims to be the best remote and rural care provider in the UK.

Team working is crucial to the effective delivery of care and strong interpersonal skills are essential. You should also possess strong general skills in your specialty practice along with a GMC Registration. The successful applicants will be expected to work closely with colleagues to provide exemplary care to the patient group.

NHS Orkney is working to be the best remote and rural care provider in the UK. Orkney offers a stunning coastline, wildlife, and a range of cultural and sporting activities in a close-knit community. The Balfour hospital opened in 2019 and provides inpatient wards, an emergency department, outpatients, diagnostic services, Dentistry, two GP practices and the Scottish Ambulance Service under one roof, enabling close multidisciplinary working to benefit patients.

Further investment in outer island facilities is planned to drive forward service improvement.

Orkney is an archipelago of 70 islands (17 inhabited) located off the northern coast of Scotland, between John O’Groats and the Shetland Isles.

• GMC Registration in good standing (required).
• JAG accreditation for endoscopy (required for those applying to practice endoscopy).
• Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme disclosure check (PVG) as part of employment checks.
