Overview
A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) family medicine program is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor/Family Medicine Physician to serve as core faculty. The family medicine residency was established in 1975, building on the holistic rural medical education delivered since Andrew Taylor Still MD opened the first school of osteopathic medicine in Kirksville in 1892. This core faculty member will provide clinical supervision, teaching and role modeling for family medicine residents and osteopathic medical students, supporting addressing the population health needs of this rural community in northeast Missouri.

The role emphasizes teaching, clinical supervision and role modeling for residents and medical students.

Requirements
This position reports to the Family Medicine Program Director and Executive Director of Practice Management. The core faculty will provide clinical supervision, teaching and role modeling for residents and osteopathic medical students, supporting the population healthcare needs of the rural community in northeast Missouri. The role includes teaching courses and course prep for medical students in the department of Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine & Community Health.
This is an employed position with approximately 40% dedicated clinical time, 30–40% teaching/precepting, and 20–30% residency administration/research time. A 0.4 FTE is defined as three half days supervising residents in the ambulatory clinic and one half day for evaluation, didactics, and program administration.

Major Job Duties
- Provide supervision and assessment of residents in the Family Medicine Residency Program
- Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, diagnoses and treatments
- Train and supervise medical students assigned to the clinic
- Participate in GMEC, subcommittees, task forces, and internal committees as requested
- Work with other Family Medicine faculty to ensure a positive learning climate
- Participate in recruitment and selection of resident candidates
- Facilitate residents participation in educational and scholarly activities
- Direct and coordinate patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required
- Follow established policies, procedures, objectives, and continuous quality improvement standards
- Provide comprehensive medical services for patients on a continuing basis
- Provide supervision of residents and students in the program
- Complete assessment of trainees as requested
- Work with the program director and other faculty to ensure the program meets ACGME standards
- Participate in departmental and residency program meetings and committees as assigned
- Assist in clinical presentation development and curriculum integration
- Assist in policy revisions affecting KCOM students and faculty
- Interview KCOM applicants and participate on committees as assigned
- Participate in faculty development supporting goals as a medical educator and leader
- Develop learning objectives, lecture materials and test questions for internal medicine curriculum
- Submit annual Faculty Activity Report
Education/Training
- Must have a DO or MD
- Must be Board-Certified in Family Medicine (AOA or ABMS)
- Federal DEA Certification
- Active physician medical license
- Clinical teaching experience
