Founding Designer (Product + Brand) — In-person (Kirkland, WA)

Come join our fast growing company on a mission to democratize access to investing. We’re looking for a Founding Designer who is obsessed with craft, ships relentlessly, and is excited to blur the line between design, prototyping, product thinking, and light front-end execution
. We work in-person most days out of our office in Kirkland, WA
.

This is not a “make pretty screens and hand them off” role. This is: define the product’s taste, turn ambiguity into sharp decisions, and ship. You will work directly with the founding team and be CEO adjacent to product + design thinking and execution.

• Love the craft: You have taste. You care about typography, spacing, motion, hierarchy, and writing. You sweat the details because details are the product.
• Extreme ownership: You don’t need a roadmap and a PM to tell you what to do. You see the problem, propose a direction, prototype it, test it, and get it into production. You treat the product like it’s yours.
• Be a builder, not a decorator: You’re comfortable going from zero → prototype → v1 in days. You can use tools like Figma, Framer, code (or whatever you please) to make real things.
• Be deeply curious: You ask “why” until the truth falls out. You learn the domain. You want to understand investing workflows, constraints, edge cases, and what actually drives trust.
• Design for trust: We’re in investing. The bar is higher. You know how to make complex, high-stakes workflows feel calm, clear, and correct. You care about error states, empty states, loading, data formatting, and clarity.
• Use AI effectively, but own fundamentals: You use AI tools to move faster (copy, concepts, variations, research synthesis), but you have real design judgment. You can critique work, explain tradeoffs, and make calls without hiding behind tools.

• Define and evolve the product’s visual language (UI system, interaction patterns, tone)
• Design end-to-end flows for investing-related actions (onboarding, portfolio views, trade actions, settings, alerts)
• Prototype quickly (high fidelity, interactive) and iterate with engineers daily
• Build and maintain a clean design system that makes the team faster
• Push into brand where it matters: website, marketing surfaces, product voice
• Sweat the “boring” stuff that makes products great: states, responsiveness, edge cases, accessibility
