Directs the daily operations of a large summer day camp program.
Responsibilities- Develop, schedule, and coordinate day camp activities.
- Schedule, supervise, lead, and evaluate staff.
- Institute and enforce camp rules and discipline/reward procedures for participants and staff.
- Ensure participant welfare during all activities, trips, and transportation.
- Ensure the proper handling of first-aid and emergency situations.
- Train and orient day camp staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrates sports, games and craft activities to staff and participants. Accompany children on walks and public transit to outings. Administer First Aid/CPR if needed. Monitor participants by watching and listening. Shop for and deliver supplies to program sites.
- Prepare program and staff evaluations.
- Communicate with parents regarding participants progress and special needs.
- Must have one year supervisory experience.
- Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
- Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be 18+ by time of hire.
Performs work in indoor and outdoor settings including multipurpose rooms, parks, playgrounds, beaches, and commercial recreation sites. Exposure to extended periods of direct sunlight and/or cool and damp weather is possible.
