Overview

Permanent - Hours negotiable from 22 to 25 hours. We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced respiratory nurse/s to join our highly motivated team of Respiratory Nurse Specialists.

The core function of the respiratory nurse specialist team is to facilitate early supported discharge, follow-up patients at home thus reducing length of stay. The team also manages the home oxygen service for all respiratory patients across Fife.

Responsibilities
  • The Respiratory Nurse Specialist team delivers a wide range of services including:
    General respiratory clinic reviews; ILD support clinic/service;
    Difficult to treat asthma clinic/biologic treatment clinics;
    Long-term oxygen assessments - both inpatient and outpatient;
    Trial nebulised antibiotic dosing for patients with complex respiratory infection;
    Adhoc reviews for admission avoidance (at patients homes and in ward attender clinics);
    Support for acute NIV/CPAP;
    Outpatient/inpatient sleep studies;
    Initiation and management of domiciliary NIV/CPAP via Airview home monitoring programme; IPC drain management;
    Empyema drain management;
    Staff education.

The service is currently undergoing some further development and redesign. Due to the breadth of service provision the team delivers the ideal candidate/s will need to have extensive respiratory experience including recent acute experience and be motivated with a passion for delivering high quality respiratory care and keen to develop. Full driving license and access to a car is also essential.

Weekend working is also required as part of the role.

Right to work and visa information

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
