Overview

The Fife Rheumatology Service is managed by the Primary and Preventative Care Services team of the Health and Social Care Partnership (H&SCP) and provides Fife-wide services to people with Rheumatic Disease. It is a well established department having been developed since 1994. We have a strong, holistic, multidisciplinary approach to the management of people with rheumatic disease and, in consequence, have a large Multidisciplinary Team as detailed below.

Role

Summary

You will report professionally to the Lead Consultant Rheumatologist, H&SCP who will agree annual objectives, support and supervision and workplan. The post will be based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital which is adjacent to the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy but the post holder may be required to work in community hospitals across Fife. You will work within the Fife Rheumatic Diseases Unit with opportunity to develop specialist knowledge of the Rheumatic diseases, their management and skills such as joint injection.

Features

There is no out of hours or general medicine commitments in this post, but if the applicant wishes to have extra sessions participating in the acute medicine rota this can be discussed with the medical team. It is anticipated that this is a 12 month post, with an option for extension depending on the post holder and the needs of the Rheumatology department.

Opportunity and time for delivering teaching and quality improvement is provided, and previous Fellows have achieved national publications/presentations during their time with us. This post provides the ideal opportunity to gain more experience and hone your CV in a broad range of areas, with previous Fellows successfully being appointed directly into competitive training programmes as a result.
