Position: Specialist Pharmacist, Dispensary (LW)

Overview

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Pharmacist to join the Medicines Supply and Quality team working within the Dispensaries at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline. Working with the Pharmacy team including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants, you will be responsible for delivering a safe, effective and efficient dispensary service on a daily basis, in conjunction with the Specialist Pharmacy Technician Dispensing Services.

You will be responsible for the provision of Pharmacist training within the Dispensary and you will contribute to regular review and development of standard operating procedures.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across NHS Fife Pharmacy Services and the wider multi-disciplinary team, you will ensure patient safety through quality and effective transformational care. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the transformation of medicine supply services, utilising new technology to deliver the highest standards of pharmaceutical care.

We are looking for a pharmacist with broad based clinical knowledge and excellent communication and organisational skills. Applications from experienced community or GP practice pharmacists looking to gain experience within the hospital service are welcomed.

You will be part of the pharmacy team contributing to rotas for 7 day working, public holidays and the on call pharmacy service.

About NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate

NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate serves a population of approximately 380,000 people, and is provided by an integrated team of around 300 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. The team work across Acute and Community hospital sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Working arrangements and legal requirements
  • From 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata with a corresponding increase in hourly rate.
  • Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is a requirement prior to appointment.
