Position: Advanced Biomedical Scientist/Quality Officer - Blood Bank (LW)

Overview

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists. MSc in Biomedical Science or Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science is required as well as significant post registration experience in a Haematology /Coagulation laboratory. Within this post, you will manage and coordinate day-to-day technical activities of a section(s) of the department, as well as first line supervision of the BMS and CSW team.

They will be responsible for standards and quality of performance of the section(s) including instrument problem solving and troubleshooting as well as processes a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a modern facility with state of the art equipment:
Transfusion has Griffols platforms and Haematology and Coagulation are equipped with Sysmex analysers which are integrated to Roche pre analytics and track.

Working arrangements

Working hours are 37 per week average and may include evenings, weekends and overnight working when required.

Designation and training

The department is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 and is IBMS approved for Biomedical Scientist training. Active participation in CPD and opportunities for further study are both supported and encouraged.

UK work eligibility

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
