Overview
Would you like to develop and enhance your career? Ward 6, Supported Discharge Unit are recruiting band 3 Health care support workers (HCSW).
Responsibilities- You will be expected to provide support to the nursing team by carrying out an extended range of assigned clinical tasks as well as direct patient care and associated administrative duties.
- You will work as part of a team promoting the delivery of high quality, seamless, equitable and accessible care to patients and their families and ensure prompt initiation of investigations as per protocol to support the management of the patients by the medical and nursing staff in the clinical area.
- Participate in the discharge process. Successful candidates will be expected to independently manage patients’ discharge.
- Be trained in all Band 3 clinical skills including vital signs, venipuncture, cannulation and catheterisation; training will be provided to suitable candidates if needed.
- Have a good working knowledge of IT systems.
- This is a rotation post covering days, nights and weekends to support the nursing staff and patient dependency.
- Minimum two years experience within an acute hospital setting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
- Willingness to participate in required training and to work regularly without direct supervision from a registered nurse.
- A requirement to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom (legal permission to work); pre-employment checks will be carried out by NHS Scotland Boards.
- This post may close early due to anticipated level of applicants.
- Salary for this post is pro rata to part-time hours; as from 1/4/26 the Agenda for Change full-time weekly hours reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week with part-time hours reduced pro-rata. The hourly rate increases accordingly.
