Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Knowsley

A well-established and growing lighting solutions provider is seeking an experienced Lighting / Electrical Design Engineer to support projects across the North West, with some national coverage as required.

This is a confidential appointment and the hiring company will be disclosed at interview stage.

The Role

This position offers the opportunity to design and deliver high-quality, compliant lighting schemes across a varied portfolio of projects including:

* Commercial landlord portfolios

* Public sector and local authority buildings

* Intelligent / smart building environments

* External areas and car parks

You will be responsible for producing technically robust, energy-efficient designs that meet regulatory standards while delivering practical and visually effective solutions for clients.

Key Duties

* Produce detailed lighting layouts and calculations tailored to client briefs

* Create technical drawings using industry software (Relux/Dialux and AutoCAD or equivalent)

* Undertake site visits, lighting surveys, and lux level assessments

* Recommend suitable luminaires, emergency lighting and control systems

* Prepare energy-saving and return-on-investment reports

* Ensure compliance with current building regulations and lighting standards

* Support clients with technical advice and present proposals professionally

* Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery

Candidate Profile

* Demonstrable recent experience within the lighting design sector

* Strong working knowledge of Relux or Dialux and CAD software

* Solid understanding of lighting controls, LED technologies, and energy reduction strategies

* Confident in carrying out on-site assessments and producing compliant documentation

* Excellent communication and presentation skills

* LIA Lighting Design qualification advantageous but not essential
