SEN Teaching Assistant (2:1 Support) | Kirkby
Are you a patient, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in a child’s life? We are seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Kirkby on a long-term, full-time basis.
In this role, you will work as part of a 2:1 Teaching Assistant support team, providing tailored assistance to a student with moderate to severe autism. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a deep, rewarding professional bond within a highly supportive school environment.
Role Details- Hours:
8:45 AM - 3:45 PM (Monday to Friday). - Contract:
Long-term, full-time (Term time only). - Location:
Kirkby (L32/L33 area). - Key Responsibility:
Providing consistent 2:1 support alongside another staff member to ensure the student remains engaged, safe, and supported throughout the school day.
The child has a diagnosis of moderate to severe autism and requires a structured, calm approach to learning. A vital part of this role involves monitoring the student around food due to specific sensory or safety needs. You will be responsible for implementing their individual care plan and ensuring a safe environment during break and lunch periods.
What We're Looking For- Experience:
Previous experience working with children or young adults with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is essential. - Vigilance: A high level of awareness, particularly regarding food safety and sensory triggers.
- Temperament: A calm, patient "thick-skinned" nature with a passion for inclusive education.
- Communication:
Ability to use (or willingness to learn) alternative communication methods like PECS or Signalong.
