Food Service Assistant - Ware Washer

ResponsibilitiesCaswell Developmental Center is seeking an enthusiastic Food Service Assistant to function in the Outfoods area of Dietary Services, assisting with preparation of food served at campus functions, as well as serve in the rotation working at the Sandbar Caf, utilizing menu item preparation, cash register operation skills while displaying optimal customer service. Job responsibilities include:
- Preparation and labeling of supplements, bedtime snacks/ingredients, food items for meals, texture modification and general cleaning.
- May serve as a lead worker over subordinate personnel in non-skilled food service activities.
- Utilize accepted and established food handling, food storage, and sanitation procedures, and must meet productivity and quality assurance standards when completing tasks.
- Work Hours:
7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (hours vary as needed, every other weekend off).

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
/ Competencies
- Ability to learn food preparation and cleaning procedures.
- Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor for extended periods of time.
- Ability to maintain high standards of personal cleanliness and food sanitation.
- Ability to maintain professional and cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, as well as keeping some routine records.
The preferred candidate will have a high school diploma and six months of food service experience in either a state operated program, ICF/IID facility and/or school setting.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must stoop, bend, stand and walk carrying pans of food for a short distance.
- Daily exposure to food service equipment with temperatures below 50 degrees and above 140 degrees.
Education and/or experience in food service that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
