Job Description:
Airbus is looking for an Aircraft Quality Inspector to join our team. You will be part of the team responsible for the execution and confirmation of quality inspections as part of the production process with an emphasis on the aircraft structure and mechanical systems.
Airbus is an authorized DoD Skill Bridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day program allows transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment.
Skill Bridge Eligibility- Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation.
- Written Commander (O-4 or above) authorization.
- Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.
The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facilities helps assemble the finest aircraft in the world, with production lines for the A220 and A320 Family. You will work with individuals passionate about aviation and skilled in areas like electrical, structure and quality.
Your Working EnvironmentLocations include Mobile, AL;
Kinston, NC; and Columbus, MS. These facilities manufacture and assemble various Airbus aircraft, with emphasis on the A320 Family and the A350 XWB programs as applicable to each site.
- Execute technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft in the context of the authorization of manufacturer operation.
- Prepare and perform visual, incoming, first article, and final inspections during aircraft manufacture for compliance with design specifications, customers, and certification requirements.
- Document technical inspections in SAP-based production orders and relevant IT systems by inspection marks; prepare first article inspection reports.
- Support troubleshooting, Functional Test Procedures (FTPs), and participate in Quality Survey requests.
- Compile non-conformance technical data to launch NCMS-based quality discrepancy sheets for professional assessment in line with manufacturing engineering documentation.
- Document all inspection results in FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP-based IT systems.
- Attain skills to perform audits of Non-Conformance Rework Orders as part of the Material Review Board (MRB).
- Perform audits/reviews of workbooks to validate PV approval and process adherence.
- Track and maintain components during the Non-Conformance process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant License including inspection authorization is preferred.
- 3 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in an aviation company or military aviation equivalent with emphasis on mechanical and/or structural components and assemblies.
- Previous experience in a mechanic or technician role is highly desirable.
- Airline or military aviation experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
- Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in the production line.
- Handling and use of inspection tools and length measuring techniques (mechanical, optical, electrical).
- Onsite or remote: 100% onsite.
- Vision, hearing, speaking abilities adequate for office and shop floor work.
- Capability to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (14 kg) and carry up to 20 lbs (9 kg) as needed.
- Ability to travel domestically and overseas.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and with respirators.
Skill Bridge participants continue to receive military pay and benefits from the DoD. No salary or financial compensation is provided by Airbus during the program.
