Composite Repair Technician

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Composite Repair Technician for an opportunity in Kinston, NC.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lay out, assemble, pre-fit, and bond a variety of metal, composite, or laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins, or equipment.
  • Follow engineering and manufacturing specifications and orders to determine parts to be bonded and the temperature and pressure required. Cut parts or materials to size.
  • Operate autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete the bonding cycle.
  • Sand, burr, and smooth over areas.
  • Apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
  • Process methods and sequences vary depending on compounds, contours, and lay-up transitions.
  • Perform complicated rework or repair as needed.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with controlled procedures.
  • Utilize lay-up tools, including optical and hard tools, in the fabrication of composite and metal assemblies, with appropriate training provided.
  • Obtain required information from prints, charts, sketches, work orders, and electronic sources.
  • Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work, verifying adherence to work instructions and specifications.
  • Ensure equipment and tool certification per procedures.
  • Control solvents and cleaning solutions used in preparation for bonding and painting, following established procedures.
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance daily.
  • Move products within the manufacturing area using shop-assigned equipment and complete necessary transactions for workflow.
  • Support continuous flow of products by training and assisting other employees.
  • Train to become MVP qualified; additional duties may be assigned with training and certification provided.
  • Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Local candidates are strongly preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in composite repair, with aerospace experience required.
  • Availability to start as soon as possible.
