SummaryPerforms a variety of exams using Magnetic Resonance Imaging principals. Demonstrates independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Communicates directly with the Radiologist in setting protocols, exhibits exceptional MRI skills to obtain the highest quality images possible for diagnostic interpretation. Exceeds the highest standard of care and respect for all customers.
Responsibilities- Patients and their families are served by performing procedures in a prompt and courteous manner resulting in high quality images.
- Provides excellent communication skills with members of the healthcare team, physicians, patients and their families.
- Exhibits knowledge regarding the needs of neonatal, adolescent, pediatric, and/or geriatric patients.
- Treats patients with a high degree of professionalism with consideration to the patient’s privacy and illness.
Other information:
Education RequirementsGraduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology. Completion of an approved course in Magnetic Resonance Imaging desired.
Professional Experience RequirementClinical rotation through a hospital setting during training or one-year experience as an MRI Technologist.
Licensure/Registration/CertificationRegistered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligible.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities RequirementsCPR training. Ability to make independent decisions. Knowledge and ability of intravenous therapy for injection of contrast agents. Accurate knowledge of magnetic fields and safety hazards associated with magnetic fields. Encourages proper training and supervision of student technologist rotating through the MRI department. Excellent communication skills.
Work EnvironmentDue to indirect or direct contact, you may be at risk for exposure to tuberculosis, blood borne pathogens (which may include HIV and Hepatitis
B) and/or other potentially infectious diseases. Exposure to magnetic fields. Personal Protective Equipment required for patient exposure.
Walking and standing throughout shift. Pushes and pulls stretchers and wheelchairs occupied with patients throughout the shift. Lift patients daily with assistance. Stressful work shifts during periods of high patient volume. Rotating call responsibility.
