Director of Psychology
Caswell Developmental Center
, Kinston, NC
The Director of Psychology leads the Psychology Department, which includes a Senior Psychologist, 8 Staff Psychologists, and a team of Behavior Specialists. The primary purpose of this role is to provide clinical and administrative oversight, ensuring high‑quality services for the approximately 343 individuals served by the Center.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical supervision to Staff Psychologists in accordance with the NC Psychology Practice Act.
- Administer department‐wide supervision and oversight of all staff.
- Oversee psychological testing, evaluations, and the development of behavioral assessment and treatment programs.
- Offer consultative services to treatment teams and collaborate with professionals from other clinical disciplines to optimize treatment outcomes.
- Handle center‑level administrative functions, policy making, and conduct/interpreting applied research related to intellectual/developmental disabilities, while maintaining compliance with Medicaid regulations and the NC Administrative Code. ul>
- Demonstrated working knowledge of intellectual/developmental disabilities and co‑occurring mental health disorders.
- Experience in functional analysis and intervention for individuals with severe behavior disorders.
- Experience teaching and maintaining adaptive skills.
- Proven staff training and management strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Licensed psychologist in NC.
- Training and experience in applied psychology with people who have intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Minimum 5 years managing psychology/professional staff in a residential setting.
- Knowledge of psychoactive medication and experience with individuals who have intellectual disability, mental illness, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Ability to walk for long distances.
- Ability to perform visual tasks and work both inside and outside.
- Three years of post‑doctoral psychological experience, at least one year of which must include coordinating/supervising a psychological services program with clinical treatment, consultation, training, and research components.
- Eligible for licensure in North Carolina under the NC Psychology Practice Act.
- Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
